Overview
SkyKraft is a joint venture between SkyNRG and Swedish utility Skellefteå Kraft formed to develop an eSAF facility at Näsudden in the Port of Skellefteå. The proposed plant aims to produce up to 130,000 tonnes of electro sustainable aviation fuel annually using renewable electricity and biogenic CO2. The JV recently secured approximately €21 million from the Swedish Energy Agency’s Industriklivet program to fund next-phase feasibility, engineering, and design work ahead of a planned FID in 2027. The project is presented as part of SkyNRG’s broader global SAF expansion strategy, alongside projects in the US and the Netherlands. SkyKraft’s development is framed against a challenging European e-fuel funding backdrop but with expected long-term demand growth driven by tightening EU aviation fuel mandates.
