SkyNRG

Sint Antoniesbreestraat 16, Amsterdam, North Holland, 1011HB, The Netherlands

Overview

Founded in 2009 in Amsterdam, SkyNRG supplies and now produces sustainable aviation fuel to help the aviation sector reach net-zero emissions by 2050. The company was the first to supply SAF for a commercial flight in 2011 with shareholder KLM. After initially focusing on sourcing, blending, and distributing SAF, SkyNRG pivoted toward large-scale production following a €175 million investment from Macquarie in 2023 and a €250 million investment from Dutch pension asset manager APG in 2025. Its first major production facility, now under construction at the Delfzijl chemical park, is slated to produce 100,000 tonnes of SAF and 35,000 tonnes of biobased coproducts annually using the HEFA pathway. The plant is expected to start up in mid-2028 and to cut lifecycle greenhouse-gas emissions by 80% initially, rising to more than 90% as it transitions to Dutch renewable energy and less natural‐gas use. KLM is the primary off-taker for the plant’s output, providing demand certainty for the project. SkyNRG’s strategy is to expand global SAF capacity through additional production facilities, leveraging both equity and debt financing to accelerate build-out.
