Slate Auto is developing the Slate Truck and preparing its Warsaw factory for production. The company reports more than 160,000 pre-orders for its vehicles. Leadership says nearly four years of product and factory development have preceded the current production push. Slate completed a $650 million funding round to enable expansion into production later this year. Management projects the investment will create over 2,000 jobs in the automotive sector and contribute roughly $39 billion to Indiana’s economy over 20 years. Company leadership also claims Slate Trucks will be delivered at nearly half the cost of the average new vehicle.
