Sleuth

2261 Market Street Ste 5282, San Francisco, CA, 94114, United States

Overview

Sleuth builds an AI-powered platform that integrates with existing development toolchains to measure engineering efficiency using DORA metrics. The product models deployments and traces work from concept through launch by connecting to issue trackers, CI/CD, error trackers, and metrics platforms such as Datadog and Sentry to estimate change failure rate and mean time to recovery. It alerts teams when metrics deviate from baseline and can automate steps in the development process, offering team-level and organization-wide dashboards. The company was founded by three former Atlassian employees — Dylan Etkin, Michael Knighten and Don Brown — who say they helped Atlassian move from nine-month releases to daily deploys. Customers include Atlassian, LaunchDarkly, Puma, Matillion and Monte Carlo; Sleuth has tracked nearly a million deploys and undertaken over a million automated actions. The 12-employee company reported 700% growth last year with "very healthy" margin and cash flow, and said it declined to disclose revenue; new funding will support product development and expansion of engineering and sales teams. Sleuth builds a deployment-tracking and communication platform aimed at reducing confusion around continuous delivery. The product surfaces who changed what, when, and the impact of individual changes to help broader teams understand complex delivery pipelines. The company was founded by three former Atlassian employees—Dylan Etkin (CEO), Michael Knighten and Don Brown—leveraging their developer-tools pedigree. Sleuth positions itself as particularly useful for remote teams and collaboration, a strength the founders highlighted during lockdown. The team is currently five people and plans to spend the next 6–9 months refining the product, hiring a few more employees, and pursuing product–market fit. Financially, Sleuth has just closed a $3 million seed round to support those plans.
