SLIPS Technologies
85 Bolton Street Suite 122, Cambridge, MA, 02140, United States
Overview
Slips Technologies develops SLIPS, a coating technology that creates a slippery, self‑healing liquid layer on surfaces to make sticky materials slide off. The coatings can be applied to plastics, metal, ceramics, glass and concrete and repel liquids (oil, paint, blood, consumer lotions), bacteria, insects and marine organisms. The company plans to use recent financing to advance product development and testing, accelerate commercialization, and expand its core technologies. It is pursuing marine anti‑fouling paint applications—supported by a recently awarded ARPA‑E grant to address fuel efficiency and carbon emissions from commercial ships. Slips was spun out from Harvard’s Wyss Institute in October 2014 and previously raised a $3.0M Series A from BASF Venture Capital and Hansjörg Wyss. The company is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and announced an internal leadership change with Chairman David Ward assuming the CEO role.
