Slock.it is a Berlin, Germany-based developer of a blockchain infrastructure platform for the sharing economy. The company is advancing the Universal Sharing Network (USN) project to enable companies and individuals to rent, sell or share any connected smart object. The USN is being built on the public Ethereum blockchain and will provide mobile and desktop applications to find, locate, rent and control smart objects from anywhere in the world. Slock.it was incepted in November 2015 by Christoph Jentzsch (CEO) and Stephan Tual (COO). The company raised $2M in seed funding and intends to use the proceeds to develop the USN. Backers for the round were not disclosed.
