Smappee is a provider of energy monitoring solutions based in Kortrijk, Belgium, founded in late 2012. Its core product is an energy monitor that measures the exact use of key appliances and provides real-time data. A mobile app for smartphone or tablet lets users monitor consumption in real time and analyze it. The system also measures solar-panel production, and Comfort Plugs allow users to switch appliances on and off remotely. Smappee currently sells its products in over 60 countries. The company raised $2.7M in a Series A internal round and will use the funds to develop and launch new products during 2016; total funding to date is $5.4M.
