SmartReno is a Montreal-based platform that lets homeowners describe renovation projects and receive contractor matches within 24 hours free of charge. Matching is optimized through a real-time in-house algorithm that identifies the best local contractors from an exclusive network. The company handles over 40,000 project requests per year with an aggregate project value exceeding $200 million and a network of more than 5,000 handpicked contractors. SmartReno launched a financing product (SmartReno Financing Plan) allowing clients to apply online or by phone and be approved in less than 15 minutes. It plans to apply funds from its recent financing toward growth in Canada and internationally and to integrate and develop the acquired Zoomission assets and services. Led by president and founder Andrei Uglar, SmartReno maintained the Zoomission site and retained Zoomission's team; Zoomission founder Dominic Morin joined SmartReno and invested in the company.
