Smart Steel Technologies delivers AI-based software for steel mills that targets temperature optimization, reduction of casting defects, and stabilization of surface inspection to improve product quality. Its models are optimized on historical production data to determine causal relationships between process parameters and achieved quality, enabling reductions in temperature, energy consumption, and CO2 emissions without costly physical testing. The company relies on a team of metallurgy and AI experts to produce ready-to-deploy solutions for process optimization. Founded in 2019 (activities started in 2016) and headquartered in Berlin, Smart Steel currently employs about 15 people. In November 2019 the company secured growth financing from LEA Partners to support product development and commercial expansion.
