SmartCloud develops the CRex™ Big Reasoning platform, which unifies stream processing, Semantic Web, and multi-agent architectures to deliver real-time reasoning in mission-critical environments. The company positions its technology for Industrial Internet of Things and extreme mission-critical applications, with agent architectures that can deploy reasoning on devices, servers, or in the cloud. SmartCloud gained notice in the Smart Grid market by implementing a situational awareness system that monitors North America’s bulk power system, ingesting real-time data from 30,000 points and alerting staffs at FERC and NERC about emerging reliability situations. The company was named a Gartner “Cool Vendor in Energy and Utilities” in 2011. SmartCloud was founded in 2009 and is based in Bedford, Mass. It says it aims to become a leading provider of real-time xStream reasoning solutions and plans to increase applications of its Big Reasoning platform.
