SmartHalo develops connected biking devices, most recently the SmartHalo2, which tracks cycling metrics, syncs with fitness apps, provides navigation signals, and adds a PeekDisplay alongside a front light, water resistance, and an anti-theft alarm. The company has delivered 25,000 units to riders in over 70 countries. SmartHalo returned to Kickstarter to crowdfund the SmartHalo2 and raised an additional $1 million for the second generation. The company launched its first Kickstarter in 2015, raising about $500,000, and closed a $328,000 angel round in 2016; Fonds Innovexport has backed SmartHalo since 2017. SmartHalo struck a distribution deal with Apple in 2017 to carry the device in Apple Stores across North America and Europe. CEO Xavier Peich said the company expects to raise a Series A sometime this year and plans to ship SmartHalo2 before Christmas 2019. The current Kickstarter price is CAD $133 (US $99).
