Smartschool has developed an AI‑guided learning system for K–12 students, with its flagship product Yoko focused on SAT preparation. Yoko assesses each student’s needs, identifies learning gaps, and creates personalized learning plans while monitoring progress like a human tutor. The company positions Yoko at a cost far lower than traditional private tutoring, and thousands of students have already used the assistant to enhance their SAT scores. The founders — Matt Maslowski, Paul Burzynski, and Agata Mroczkowska — drew on prior experience running a tutoring agency that helped over 1,000 European and Southeast Asian students. Smartschool raised $1.5M in a Pre-Seed round and plans to use the funds to accelerate US market presence and further develop content and products. Investors in the round include Inovo VC, The Explorer Fund, and angel investors such as Andreas Michaelides and Konrad Howard.
