Smashing is an AI- and community-powered content recommendation app that curates the best content across news, blogs, social posts, podcasts and videos. Its iOS app, built over the last year following a seed round, lets users submit any URL, vote content up or down (users get 30 votes per day), and like, save and comment on links. AI features provide summaries, key excerpts and pull quotes and help identify topics and threads tailored to individual users, while community voting works in conjunction with the AI. The company is launching into an invite-only private beta on iOS. Founders include Goodreads co-founder Otis Chandler, Greg Veen (who teamed up with Chandler in 2022), Mike Mraz and Dan Barrett. Financially, Smashing has $3.4 million in seed funding from a mix of venture firms and angel investors.
