SMT Intelligence is an electronics manufacturing firm founded in 2001 (originally SMT Hautes Technologies) that produces printed circuit boards and assembles electronic and electromechanical circuits. The company operates three plants with 10 assembly lines it says are fully automated by robotics and AI, and it runs robotized mechanical assembly plants to support the development cycle. SMT employs over 200 people, serves more than 65 customers globally across multiple sectors, and manufactures more than eight million electronic circuits annually. In September the company rebranded from SMT Hautes Technologies to SMT Intelligence to signal a focus on innovation and new challenges. Stéphane Deschênes is the company’s president, founder and majority shareholder. Although not a semiconductor producer, SMT positions itself to benefit from waves of investment in the North American semiconductor industry and rising demand for electronic modules.
