Snappli
181 Fremont St., San Francisco, CA, 94105, United States
Overview
Snappli routes smartphone traffic through its own servers to speed downloads and reduce data usage by compressing content (including video) and bundling multiple HTTP requests. It operates as a proxy that works across browsers and apps by changing the APN setting on iOS. The service provides detailed data-usage monitoring with breakdowns of which sites and apps consume the most data, and it can filter potentially harmful sites. As of the article the iOS app is out of beta and available in the App Store, and an Android version is in development. The founding team includes Roy and Eldar Tuvey, who previously built ScanSafe and sold it to Cisco in 2009 for $183 million. Snappli has raised $1 million from investors to support its launch and product expansion.
