SnappyData builds an open-source in-memory hybrid transactional and analytics database built on Apache Spark and Pivotal GemFire. Its platform lets customers replace disparate streaming, transactional and analytical products by consolidating workloads in a single in-memory cluster. The architecture uses Apache Spark's in-memory computing and a shared-nothing design based on Pivotal GemFire to eliminate single points of failure and deliver high performance. The company is led by GemFire founders Richard Lamb, Jags Ramnarayanan and Sudhir Menon and is based in Portland, Oregon. SnappyData currently has a team of 30+ engineers and is actively hiring. It plans to use the Series A proceeds to invest in engineering and sales.
