Overview
Socowave develops advanced wireless access systems for mobile communications, centered on an Active Antenna System that detects the direction of incoming signals and digitally optimises the radio link. The company says the technology can increase wireless data handling capacity five-fold while cutting base station energy consumption by about 50%. Socowave positions the platform for 3G, LTE and 4G cellular networks. The funding round is intended to accelerate development of the Active Antenna System technology platform. Joe Moore is founder and CEO, and the company is supported by Enterprise Ireland. Socowave houses its headquarters at NovaUCD (University College Dublin) with an R&D centre in the National Software Centre, Cork.
