Overview
Founded in 2015 and based in Delft, Solar Monkey builds software for solar installers that uses advanced algorithms, aerial imagery, and 3D models to speed designing, quoting, and monitoring of PV systems. The platform aims to let installers complete workflows that used to take hours in minutes and to reduce operational time, which the company says can double installer output. Solar Monkey claims its software enables more than 250,000 solar panel systems per year in the Netherlands. It is currently active in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain, and plans to expand soon into Germany and England. The company will use new funds to accelerate international expansion and to strengthen its product offering, pursuing faster adoption of solar across Europe. Solar Monkey provides software that lets installers design and remotely monitor solar energy systems without a home visit. The platform was developed in partnership with TU Delft and offers precise calculations and ease of use. Customers experience a more efficient process and higher sales conversion, while performance monitoring gives system owners assurance their systems are working well. The company already serves hundreds of installers within the Netherlands and has begun expansion into Belgium at customers' request. The startup has raised over €1 million and will use the financing to accelerate international deployment, improve the product, and invest in telling its story to new partners and customers.
