Solar Panda sells solar home systems that include lights, mobile charging, radios and televisions through a direct sales network. The company operates 37 shops and about 1,000 sales agents across Kenya and is in more than 200,000 homes, having provided electricity to 1 million Kenyans. Launched in 2017 and headquartered in Canada and Nairobi, Solar Panda emphasizes both social impact and commercial sustainability. The firm was one of the first in the sector to achieve profitability and has seen signs of pandemic recovery and a return to profitability. Management plans to use new funding to grow product offerings, expand its footprint within Kenya, and prepare for further expansion across Sub-Saharan Africa, and to begin work on a Series B for international expansion.
