Overview
Solaris (ソラリス) commercializes soft-robotics technologies based on pneumatic artificial muscles developed from Chuo University’s biomechatronics lab and was founded in 2017. Its flagship Sooha is a worm-shaped in-pipe robot designed to autonomously traverse narrow, winding pipelines for inspection and cleaning where drones and industrial endoscopes struggle. The company also offers the Zendo Drive, a peristaltic pump robot that mimics intestinal peristalsis for mixing and transporting high-viscosity fluids, and TasKi, a battery-free upper-arm assist device. Solaris is developing preventive-maintenance pipeline services and has worked to expand the Sooha lineup and improve robot quality since its prior fundraise in May 2022. The firm targets deployments in semiconductor, rail, water/sewer, gas and other manufacturing facilities. Cumulatively the company has raised ¥1.05 billion (10.5億円).
