SolarWindow Technologies develops transparent solar window and façade products that generate electricity while allowing light into buildings. The company does not publish product efficiency but provides a “power model” estimating a 50-story building façade (360° covered) could produce roughly 1–2 MW and claims a one-year payback. In its most recent Form 10-K the company disclosed a 34% improvement in its glass performance over prior versions. In the spring it received a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement from the DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Advanced Manufacturing Office. The company plans to use the newly announced $25 million investment to purchase manufacturing equipment and hire personnel required for production. As of August 31 the company reported two full-time employees.
