Solidia targets the global concrete and cement markets (estimated at US$1 trillion and US$300 billion respectively) and positions its processes as cost-saving for manufacturers. The company is pursuing commercialization through industry partnerships and collaborative research with organizations including Lafarge, The Linde Group, Rutgers University, Purdue, Ohio University and the University of South Florida. Solidia has received support from U.S. agencies (FHWA and DOE/NETL) and has been recognized by multiple awards and industry lists. Solidia Technologies has developed a proprietary process that uses CO2 as a reactant to create both a binder and concrete products for building and construction. Its binder requires significantly less energy to produce than Portland cement, and its concrete gains strength from CO2 rather than water. The company says these materials deliver excellent physical properties, lower life‑cycle cost, and a smaller environmental footprint than traditional concrete.
