Solink
110-390 March Road, Ottawa, Ontario, K2K 0G7, Canada
Overview
Solink provides cloud-native physical security systems, including closed-circuit camera analytics and cloud video services that enrich video with data from other systems such as point-of-sale. The company was founded in 2010 as a consulting group to combat ATM fraud and expanded into cloud video security in 2016. Its platform offers forensic security and real-time active monitoring, motion detection, camera-to-camera navigation, configurable permissions, and certified dispatchers who review alerts. Solink uses AI to identify threats and integrates with other business systems and law enforcement for dispatch, enabling new use cases and operational efficiencies. The company reports monitoring more than 18,000 locations for over 800 brands, employs around 230 people, and saw platform usage increase threefold during the pandemic. Management says it will use the new funding to grow its client base globally and invest in new products; to date Solink has raised $90 million in venture capital. Solink offers a video security platform that links existing cameras with business data such as point-of-sale, alarms, and inventory, and uses AI to identify trends and flag suspicious behaviour. The product integrates with over 100 different data sources and processes more than 120 million transactions per month (about 700 hours of video per minute). The company serves over 5,500 customer sites and manages more than 70,000 cameras across restaurant, retail, and financial services verticals. Solink says it has doubled its footprint each year in recent years and reported a 70% increase in platform "consumption" during the first weeks of the COVID-19 lockdown. Recent product additions—built during the pandemic at no additional cost to customers—include a video alarm service, social-distancing audit integrations, temporary remote access, cloud camera backup, and AI-enabled search to detect and count people and vehicles. The team is roughly 80 people and plans to grow to about 120 by the end of the year; the company was founded in 2009 and is based in Ottawa. Solink develops a software-based security platform that allows businesses to access their video streams and transactions online while auditing surveillance video to notify users of suspicious events. The company says its software uses video and data to automatically learn behavior that leads to internal and external theft. Solink can connect to existing POS systems and cameras to surface analytics, searchable events, transactions, and graphs for operators. The company launched in 2016 with a mission to transform how businesses manage video, security, and data. Solink announced it received $5 million in financing to pursue global growth for its platform. CEO Mike Matta emphasized making surveillance video a source of insight rather than just an insurance policy.
