SolveBio builds an API-based platform to make DNA reference data easy to access and integrate into diagnostic and research applications. The company describes its datasets as “clinical-grade” — accurate, secure, up-to-date, and versioned so users know which dataset version they are using. Its platform is intended to let clinicians and developers compare a patient’s DNA to reference data to find similar variants and see how others were diagnosed and treated. SolveBio’s founding team includes CEO and co-founder Mark Kaganovich and co-founder David Caplan, with Paul George (formerly at Palantir) and designer David Gross on the team. The company says it is partnering with other organizations to collect and distribute molecular data while accommodating contributors’ privacy and monetization preferences. SolveBio announced it raised $2 million from Andreessen Horowitz, Max Levchin, SV Angel, and other investors.
