Sonar offers an AI-powered mental health platform for adolescents, centered on its Wellbeing Companion, Sonny, which engages students directly via text messages. The platform partners with school districts to identify mental health challenges early, improve student well-being, boost engagement and academic performance, and reduce chronic absenteeism. Led by CEO Drew Barvir, Sonar currently partners with nine school districts across California, Texas, Illinois, Michigan and Arkansas and supports more than 4,500 students. The company raised $2.4M in funding to accelerate expansion across school districts nationwide and to invest in R&D and app development. Sonar plans to continue building its preventative mental health solution for young people while scaling deployments in K–12 settings.
