Overview
Soundhawk's first product, the Scoop, is a wearable "smart listening system" designed for people with mild hearing difficulty rather than the nearly deaf. The Scoop pairs with an Android and iPhone app and includes four different ear tips with distinct acoustic properties, a mic for targeted listening, and a portable charging case that recharges Scoop and the mic for up to 24 hours. The app offers environment presets (indoor, outdoor, restaurant, driving) and adjustable volume and ambiance controls. The device can be used as a hands-free phone accessory and is meant to improve clarity in noisy places such as restaurants and coffee shops. Soundhawk formed a partnership with Foxconn to manufacture the device in China, which the company says helps source components at a lower cost. Financially, Soundhawk just raised another $5.5 million, bringing total funding to $11.2 million.
