SoundMint is a generative platform for music NFTs that creates musical compositions derived from stems, algorithmically combined into unique musical art pieces paired with visual elements. The platform directs the majority of a sale to the artist and aims to give creators agency over their work while fostering collaborations between musicians, visual artists, and collectors. SoundMint sold 5,000 copies in its inaugural drop between Kloud and Hooker, valued at US$2.5 million, and is preparing a "Back In Time" collaboration drop with Kaien Cruz and SomeHoodlum. The company raised a US$1.7 million seed round led by Animoca Brands following a US$30 million appraisal. SoundMint plans to use the funds to build an NFT marketplace for artists, create a dashboard for NFT-holding fans, and to launch a token, buyback program, an ecosystem fund, and SoundMint Vinyl redemptions. The team positions the platform as a new medium of music creation that expands how art and music are disseminated and consumed in Web3.
