Southern Launch operates commercial rocket launch and re-entry services from the Koonibba Test Range and is developing the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex after securing environmental approval. The company was the site of the world’s first commercial spacecraft re-entry in February 2025 and has provided tracking support for NASA’s Artemis II mission. Southern Launch currently employs 35 people and, following its recent Series A raise, plans to scale to 185 full-time roles while expanding infrastructure and capabilities. Its customer roster includes Varda Space Industries, Lux Aeterna, ATSpace, Perigee Aerospace, INNOSPACE, Reaction Dynamics and the German space agency DLR. The company positions itself as a sovereign launch and re-entry provider in the Southern Hemisphere.
