Overview
Founded in 2022 out of CentraleSupélec laboratories, Spark Cleantech is a Paris-based deep-tech company aiming to slash emissions from energy-intensive sectors such as glassmaking, metallurgy, polymers and batteries. Its core product is a plug-in module that sits between an industrial site’s existing gas network and high-temperature burners, using proprietary pulsed plasmolysis to strip carbon from the fuel stream before combustion. The process yields two saleable, fully decarbonised outputs—hydrogen for heat and a solid carbon nanomaterial—while cutting CO₂ emissions by as much as 85 percent and multiplying the economic value of the input gas four-fold. The pulsed plasmolysis technology, initially invented at Stanford University and refined at CentraleSupélec, is now being piloted with major industrial customers across Europe. With fresh capital, the company plans to complete and operate its first full-scale production module, qualify its inaugural commercial carbon grades, and hire roughly 20 employees in commercial, engineering and R&D roles. Spark Cleantech positions itself as both an emissions-reduction solution provider and a supplier of high-value carbon additives for polymer and battery markets.
