Spark provides a cloud-based operating system (Spark OS) and a suite of development tools to help engineers and manufacturers take Wi‑Fi connected products from prototypes to mass manufacturing. Its hardware and software stack includes the Spark Core development kit and the Spark Cloud platform, which lets devices connect and be controlled via mobile and web apps. Spark also sells components and licenses the Spark OS for integration into manufacturers' products. The company was founded in 2012 by Zach Supalla and is based in Minneapolis. Since November 2013 Spark has shipped more than 20,000 Spark Cores to customers in over 75 countries, including engineers at IDEO, Google, Disney, Apple, Sharp, and IBM. The company recently closed a new financing round to support its product and commercialization efforts.
