Overview
MSKYNET provides an API called SPARQCode that enables companies to generate and perform analytics on advanced 2D barcodes. SPARQCodes store payloads on MSKYNET's servers so the visible code encodes a shortened URL rather than all data, which improves scanability on low-end phone cameras and is compatible with most standard QR reader apps. Shortened URLs also allow publishers to track analytics and detect device types to serve device-specific content, such as linking iPhone users to native mapping apps while serving simpler images to less capable phones. The company says SPARQCodes are visually designed to attract attention and claims 300–1000% higher conversion rates for app downloads versus traditional QR codes. MSKYNET's customers include FlightStats, which uses unique SPARQCodes per flight, and publishers embedding codes in magazine ads. The startup monetizes variably by customer use case—for example, charging FlightStats based on volume of codes created and charging publishers based on scans—and recently raised a $550,000 seed round.
