Spectralics

Shevah Street 7, Tel Aviv, Israel

Overview

Spectralics develops a multi-layered thin combiner — a see-through optical film that can be integrated onto windshields or windows to deliver images with a wider field of view and a sense of distance for safer AR overlays. The company says the film could be adopted in vehicles and also applied to smart glasses, optical systems and other head-up displays. Volvo Cars Tech Fund invested $2 million to accelerate development of the optical film, and a Volvo spokesperson confirmed the automaker is looking to adopt the technology in its cars. Spectralics is an alum of MobilityXlab in Götenborg and participates in Drive-TLV in Tel Aviv, connecting it to automotive industry investors. The startup is Israel-based and positioned to serve in-cabin AR/VR applications as automakers emphasize user experience and new display technology. The new funding brings the company’s total raised to $5 million.
