Spectrum Bridge

1064 Greenwood Boulevard Suite 200, Lake Mary, FL, 32746, United States

Overview

Spectrum Bridge develops software and services that enable wireless networks, subscriber devices, and network equipment to access and use all types of spectrum through a database-driven cognitive network architecture. Its products are embedded in subscriber devices and network equipment to more efficiently allocate bandwidth across wireless networks. The company is based in Lake Mary, Florida and was founded in 2007. Spectrum Bridge raised $8.8M in a Series B to support domestic and international commercialization and development efforts. Backers include existing investors True Ventures, the Telecommunications Development Fund (TDF) and Espírito Santo Ventures. Following the round, Rod Dir was appointed President and CEO, succeeding Richard Licursi, who will serve as Executive Chairman of the Board. Spectrum Bridge launched a marketplace to match buyers and sellers of portions of wireless spectrum that license holders do not use. The platform lists roughly $250 million worth of spectrum available for secondary transactions. It aims to address an inefficient secondary market that today largely relies on bilateral side deals between telecom companies. The company debuted the marketplace amid a backdrop in which companies spent about $19 billion in the last FCC auction. Spectrum Bridge’s management team comes from Motorola’s Mesh Networks. The firm has secured outside capital and involvement from industry and government-aligned investors, positioning it to scale its marketplace operations.
