Speechly offers a natural language understanding (NLU) API that combines NLU and speech recognition to help developers add voice user interfaces to products. The team, positioned as experienced in speech recognition and SLU, says it built proprietary speech-recognition technology "from the ground up" to support a wider range of voice-related experiences. Speechly’s approach aims to create a highly reactive, seamlessly multimodal user experience that guides users in real time to express complex intents, addressing limitations of current voice-assistant platforms. The company also emphasizes the business case for voice by enabling firms to control the end-user experience rather than operating inside third-party ecosystems that collect user data. Speechly plans to use the €2 million seed financing to further develop and open up its API so non-experts can create voice-enabled applications. Otto Söderlund, co-founder and CEO, positions the product as an alternative to classical turn-based dialog agents.
