Sphere Knowledge is developing a mobile app that automatically connects people asking questions with verified experts across topics such as travel, entertainment, business and tutoring. Experts are paid per minute to answer questions in real time via the app’s chat interface, and the company plans to take a small transaction fee for each conversation. Experts are verified both manually and algorithmically to ensure quality. The team pulled an early iOS version after press contact and is still iterating the first public release. The company was co-founded by Nick D’Aloisio and Tomas Halgas as early as November 2015. Sources say the startup has picked up significant VC backing and is operating in stealth while refining the product.
