Sphericam Inc.

New York, NY, United States

Overview

Sphericam builds 360° cameras to create original content for virtual reality platforms and interactive online media. Its newest product, the Sphericam 2, is an immersive capture device capable of self-stitching and livestreaming 4K video at 60 frames per second and is roughly the size of a baseball. The Sphericam 2 will start shipping this summer, with full-scale production scheduled to begin at a U.S. production facility in July. The company successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter in 2015, raising $450,000, and is taking pre-orders for the Sphericam 2 at $2,500. A $5 million investment from Shanghai-based Kingnet Technologies is intended to accelerate production and broaden the company’s product and service portfolio. Sphericam says Kickstarter backers and pre-order customers will receive units first, and that large media and technology companies are eager to use the camera. The company was founded in 2014 and has offices in Prague, Haarlem, Haaren and Ljubljana.
