Overview
SpiderOak develops zero-trust cybersecurity and resiliency solutions for space systems, centered on its OrbitSecure product suite. OrbitSecure combines no-knowledge encryption and distributed-ledger technology and includes a fully decentralized key management system to enable availability and continued operations in disconnected or highly contested networks. The suite is designed to reduce attack surfaces and increase resiliency for multi-vendor, multi-network mesh proliferated low-Earth orbit satellite networks, helping guard against jamming, disruption, modification, or contesting of satellite communications. SpiderOak’s commercially available products serve civil, military, and commercial space operations. The company is 100% U.S.-owned and operated and is based in Reston, Virginia. SpiderOak is partnering with Accenture through Project Spotlight to co-innovate, access Accenture’s enterprise clients and scale adoption of its end-to-end satellite security offerings; terms of the investment were not disclosed. SpiderOak builds end-to-end space cybersecurity software anchored on zero-trust encryption and a distributed ledger to protect civil, military and commercial space operations. Its flagship OrbitSecure product uses a fully decentralized key management system to maintain availability and operations in disconnected or contested space networks. The technology is designed to increase resiliency for multi-vendor, multi-network LEO constellations by reducing attack surface and limiting adversary ability to jam, disrupt, modify, or contest communications. SpiderOak is 100% U.S.-owned and operated and is led by CEO Dave Pearah and Executive Chairman Charles Beames. The company plans to complete on-orbit testing and achieve flight heritage for OrbitSecure 2.0 and to establish a Reston, VA headquarters to expand program and engineering teams. It also intends to develop a space cybersecurity laboratory for hardware-in-the-loop qualification testing for OrbitSecure and custom mission partner solutions.
