Split

14 Hatchya St, Tel Aviv, Israel

Overview

Split is an "anti-social" mobile application that lets users identify and avoid people within their social networks. The app aggregates data from Foursquare, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to show targeted contacts on a map and offers real-time alerts, event notifications, lists of "danger zones", and tools to save and scan remote locations. It supports both iOS and Android and launched with a seven-person team based in Tel Aviv. Founder Udi Dagan, who is also CEO of design agency Loolyan, conceived Split after personal encounters and built the product to serve users who want to be left alone or avoid specific contacts. Split is backed by $1 million in seed funding from a group of individual investors. The company plans to add more social networks, including Google+ and Yelp, and is experimenting with in-app purchases (the remote scanning tool is currently offered free).
