Emvito Technologies operates SpoonJoy, a subscription service that delivers meal packs, fruits, sprouts, lunch packs and snacks to customers’ doorsteps. Users sign in, select items from the site and either subscribe monthly or pay-as-you-order; delivery is arranged by area code. The company reports serving about 700–750 orders a day through eight kitchens across Bangalore; in December it reported 350–400 daily orders, roughly 90% from offices. SpoonJoy plans to expand to Delhi and Mumbai in the next two months and is currently operational only in Bangalore. The service was launched in April 2013 by Manish Jethani, who later added three IIT Roorkee classmates as co-founders. The startup sits within a growing internet-first restaurants segment in India alongside players such as FreshMenu and Yumist.
