SpoonRocket
1725 University Ave, Berkeley, CA, 94703, US
Overview
Spoonrocket prepares a small selection of menu items that are stored in specialized heating equipment kept in delivery vehicles, enabling very fast delivery. Meals are priced at $8 each with no delivery fee, and the company typically delivers in under ten minutes, sometimes as quickly as three minutes. Launched last summer in Berkeley and Emeryville, Spoonrocket expanded lunch service to San Francisco in February and is rolling out lunch citywide; it plans to offer both lunch and dinner in its markets beginning in June. Within two to three months it expects to begin serving parts of the South Bay. The company recently added chef Barney Brown and changed add-on items from cookies and sweets to salads and smoothies. Spoonrocket confirmed an $11M Series A and says it will use the funding to improve its product, build out the team, optimize its software, and improve logistics. It operates in a competitive Bay Area food-delivery market that includes Sprig, Postmates, Caviar, and Grubhub.
