Sportening is a vertical social media app built exclusively for sports fans, offering chat rooms, personalised breaking news, player ratings, statistics browsing, and unique content. The app launched out of beta after rapid early growth and is designed to give fans a tailored space away from mainstream social platforms. It has amassed more than 250,000 users after ten months, is growing ~60% month-on-month, and is adding about 2,000 new users per day. Sportening currently focuses on football but plans to expand to other sports such as basketball and American football. The company aims to reach 6 million fans by mid next year and will use fresh funding to sustain fast growth through 2022 and into 2023. Sportening was founded in Croatia in 2020 and says it will open a London office soon.
