SpotitEarly
61 W. Palisade Ave., Englewood, NJ, 07631, United States
Overview
Founded in Israel in 2020, SpotitEarly is building an at-home screening kit that lets users collect a breath sample and mail it to the company’s lab, where 18 specially trained beagles and an AI platform work together to detect cancer-specific volatile organic compounds. Cameras, microphones and heart-rate monitors track each dog’s behavior, and machine-learning software validates their responses, producing a digital result that can be shared with physicians. In a double-blind clinical study of 1,400 participants published in Nature’s Scientific Reports, the system identified breast, colorectal, prostate and lung cancers with 94 % accuracy. SpotitEarly plans to launch single-cancer tests priced around $250 and a discounted multi-cancer panel that undercuts rivals such as Grail’s $950 Galleri test. The company is beginning U.S. operations and intends to use dogs and AI as complementary biosensors, emphasizing animal welfare and employee “dog-friendly” culture. Backed by $20.3 million in venture funding, management is focusing the new capital on expanding clinical studies—starting with breast cancer—and preparing to distribute kits through a physicians’ network next year.
