Overview

Spotr offers digital inspection services for buildings at scale using computer vision to detect building conditions, elements, typology, materialization, and to derive measurements. The company gathers images from sources such as satellite and street imagery based on address lists provided by customers to construct a digital twin for each property in a portfolio. Spotr conducts large-scale image inspections to identify characteristics including materialization, size, condition, and typology. The business was originally founded as Octo and has customers across housing and is extending into insurance, citing enterprise clients like Zurich and local real-estate owners like the Alliantie. With its recent funding the company has expanded its executive team (appointing Bart Jan Hin as CCO and Sander Mulders as CTO) and plans to extend its technology beyond housing into the insurance industry. Spotr aims to inspect 15 million properties over the next two years and has closed a €4.5 million funding round to support these plans. Spotr.ai builds a digital inspection platform that uses AI-powered image recognition and multiple image sources (satellites, airplanes, drones, cars, inspectors, and tenants) to gather and maintain asset-management data for buildings. The product started as a drone-based inspection tool and now ingests over nine image sources to take measurements, perform condition surveys, and identify upgrade potential across entire building portfolios in minutes. Spotr.ai combines IoT, AI, and drone imaging to provide operational and strategic insights, aiming to make building inspection and maintenance faster, cheaper, and more accurate than manual methods. The company currently monitors and inspects over 250,000 buildings in the Netherlands and has launched in the UK with 10 housing corporations beginning to use its software. Proceeds from the €2.5M Seed round will be used to accelerate growth in the UK market. CEO Dirk Huibers says the company's ambition is to inspect every building in the world each year to improve maintenance cost estimates and valuations.
