Overview
SpotSense is a diagnostics startup building quantitative, multi-sample lateral-flow assays paired with an image-based reader that works reliably outside controlled laboratory settings. The company’s first application targets painless saliva-based detection of neonatal sepsis, and its redesigned strip architecture and analytics software enable accurate measurements from low-volume, variable samples. Beyond neonatal care, SpotSense is preparing an at-home self-testing device capable of analysing more than 30 health parameters. To date, founder Amrita Sukrity has bootstrapped ₹15 lakh and secured a ₹5 lakh Venture Center grant and a ₹50 lakh BIRAC grant. The company later raised ₹1.3 crore from a strategic investor (who also became a customer) and ₹1.5 crore from India Accelerator. SpotSense has generated roughly ₹3 crore in revenue, though it remains loss-making, and currently outsources kit manufacturing. The team now seeks ₹5 crore to fund R&D, clinical studies, and to set up in-house production as it moves toward commercial launch in clinics and homes.
