Spreadsheet.com aims to put apps into spreadsheets by combining database, calculator and programming interfaces so users can manage data, assign tasks, link documents and trigger actions without leaving a sheet. The product supports familiar formulas, timeline-style views and if-then functions that can send data to other apps or trigger emails; the company emphasizes first-party features rather than third-party plugins. Spreadsheet.com is not yet generally available and has a 16,000-person waiting list; it plans to open to others on October 17 (Spreadsheet Day). CEO Matt Robinson and co-founder Murali Mohan say the startup has around 2.5 years of capital in the bank and is not cash-constrained. The company is roughly 92% engineers by headcount and says it may raise a Series A within the next 12 months to scale non-engineering roles and compete with better-funded incumbents.
