Spreecast is a browser-based social video platform built on Flash that enables interactive online video broadcasts. Up to four people can appear face-to-face streaming live while hundreds can watch, chat, and participate by submitting comments and questions. Viewers can request to join on camera and producers can manage the action; broadcasts are integrated with Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. Spreecasts are recorded and made immediately available for playback and sharing; by default they are public but users can also create private Spreecasts. The platform is the brainchild of Jeff Fluhr, co-founder of StubHub. The company has raised $4 million in seed funding and plans to use the new capital to hire additional engineers and staff, build out the product platform, and expand the community.
