Springpath provides an enterprise-grade data platform that enables standard servers hosting applications to store, manage and protect data. Co-founded in May 2012 by Mallik Mahalingam and Krishna Yadappanavar, the company developed the Springpath Data Platform for VMware vSphere. The platform was in beta for over a year and became generally available in January 2015 on a subscription basis, with pricing starting at $4,000 per server per year. It is supported on server models from Cisco, Dell, HP and Supermicro and was deployed in close to two dozen customers for a variety of use cases. To expand its reach, Springpath announced a distribution agreement with Tech Data to make servers pre-loaded with its software available to solution providers. The company has raised institutional funding to support growth, most recently securing $34M.
