Springtail provides a cloud-native distributed database that separates storage from computation to horizontally scale the performance of existing PostgreSQL databases. It runs alongside Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and its initial offering is scalable, on-demand read replicas for Postgres on AWS. Led by CEO Craig Soules and CTO Garth Goodson, the service aims to improve read performance and lower costs for Postgres workloads. The company raised $2.5M in pre-seed funding. Springtail intends to use the proceeds to expand operations and accelerate development efforts.
