Spur Therapeutics

Sycamore House Gunnels Wood Road, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 2BP, United Kingdom

Overview

Spur (formerly Freeline) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing next-generation gene therapies by optimizing transgenes, capsids, dosing and delivery. Its lead program, FLT201 for Gaucher disease, produced compelling Phase 1/2 GALILEO-1 data showing dramatic reductions in lyso-Gb1, early signs of clinical improvement in fatigue and bone marrow burden, and a favorable safety profile. Spur expects to initiate a Phase 3 trial for FLT201 in 2025. The company acquired SwanBio Therapeutics, adding SBT101, a Phase 1/2 program for adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN) and strengthening CNS capabilities. Spur is advancing a Parkinson’s program targeting GBA1 mutation carriers that leverages the same transgene as FLT201 and plans to select a development candidate later this year to progress into preclinical studies. It is also pursuing cardioprotective protein–based research programs to develop gene therapies for certain forms of chronic heart failure. Founding investor Syncona has committed an additional $50 million to support development of the expanded pipeline.
