Spyderbat delivers a SaaS cloud native runtime security platform led by CEO Marc Willebeek-LeMair and CTO Brian Smith. The platform provides three core capabilities for detecting and blocking intrusions: Runtime Visibility, Runtime Delta, and Runtime Intrusion Prevention. Runtime Visibility generates live detailed mapping and historic contextual visibility across Kubernetes, container, and VM environments. Runtime Delta enables development teams to iterate within guard rails by automating understanding of runtime behavior differences between builds and environments. Runtime Intrusion Prevention blocks attacks against cloud-native workloads throughout the software development lifecycle, including supply-chain attacks, compromised credentials, ransomware, and cryptojacking. The company also announced an Open-Source program and intends to use new funding to accelerate product development and go-to-market activities. Spyderbat is an Austin, Texas-based cybersecurity company that develops solutions for early threat discovery and investigation. Co-founded by cybersecurity veterans Marc Willebeek-LeMair and Brian Smith, former founders and executives of Click Security and TippingPoint, the company is preparing a product launch later this year. Spyderbat said it will use the capital to accelerate development of that launch. On July 30, 2020 the company raised $4.2M in a seed funding round led by LiveOak Venture Partners and Benhamou Global Ventures, with participation from cybersecurity veteran John McHale. As part of the financing, Venu Shamapant (LiveOak) and Venkat Raghavan (Benhamou) joined Spyderbat’s board of directors. The funding is aimed at product development and go-to-market preparation.
